Original Fine Art Landscape Photography - Get Unique and Creative to Make The Shot

In this day and age how original can we make our fine art landscape photography? You would think every process, composition and lighting situation has been accomplished right? Even though most of modern society is walking around with cameras and cell phones with cameras, you can still be original in a location that has been well photographed.

Complete your unique vision by being prepared and doing your research, with so many people posting photographs online you can get an idea of what has been done before and how you can make it your own. A simple online image search with Google, Flickr and Google Plus will present hundreds if not thousands of images for you to comb through, this is where your creativity and your unique artistic style will be brought out.

Original unique fine art photography comes with experience behind the camera, experimenting and testing what others have not.

Thinking about different light, exposure settings, night photography, depth of field and we haven't even touched on post processing. Look at composition, setting up at a different height, exposing more of the foreground or sky can really change the look.

Don't be tourist, we've seen the cars zipping down the scenic highway and abruptly pullover at each and every turn-out only to step 10 feet from the car and snap the shutter. Take your time; look for safe paths and trails that may offer that unique composition. Enjoy and take in what is around you and get a good sense of the beauty and how you want to convey it through your image.

On camera filters can add a punch and dramatic effect to the uniqueness of your images. A neutral density filter and graduated neutral density filters can take care of that boring blown out colorless sky. A full neutral density filter can slow down your shutter and add enough motion with a longer shutter in brighter light to make it interesting.

The tools available today in post processing are endless; combining filter combinations in post processing from a variety of programs can bring out your own style and creativity. The use of layers and combining these processes will be like no other, there is no blue print to follow when creating original fine art landscape photography, it is about having a unique vision and making it your own.

Original fine art is about expressing your vision, creativity and style. When you start to work through your images before you even press the shutter you are one step ahead of that unique expression.
